I was a little alarmed to think that ID was threatened and even needed defending! As you would expect from an Instructional Designer, this book is sequenced really well and is lucid and always to the point. As a retired instructional designer I thought it distilled ID wisdom beautifully and not only does it explain the need for systematic ID, I think it would be the perfect primer for someone new to the field. I fully concur with the book's claim that off-the-shelf "systems" are no match for a tertiary trained designer - someone who has studied learning and technology and has the left-brain skills to analyze learner needs, and learning gaps, and then the right brain creativity to develop original multimedia solutions to address those needs. I was impressed by the special attention given to the need for evaluation. Unfortunately it is often bypassed by overworked practitioners.Product details

I found this book very informative for the novice.
