FiveStar FLEECING Maura Stone Books
It took me a good while to get around to reading this book, and my regret is not having read it sooner. I have had some other things going on in my life, and just haven't had the attention span to sit through a fairly long book, but made the time, as I used to read quite a bit (Have to get back into the habit)."Fleecing" tells the story, as other reviews have pointed out, of a woman named Linda Lane who leaves one profession out of distaste for what was going on in the workings, to enter another, and this one is far more egregeous. The upper management of the Supreme Superior Hotel in New York is made up of some genuinely unlikable people whose vices are to be tolerated if one wants to keep their position and earn their paycheck. "Iggy" Ganiff is the head honcho and, as one would expect, he is a sociopath, a criminal (embezzling and fraud, as well as other abominations), and an all around repulsive piece of...well, you fill in the blank. In his employ is a very good busboy who Ganiff summarily fires for an honest mistake anyone could have made. I feel this is depicted to show just what a nasty man this Ganiff really is. The splendor of this story is one actually cares what happens to the good people involved, such as the conscientious busboy. But one need not worry though, as things do quickly work out for him. As you read the story, you start to identify with some of the characters and the mind's eye actually starts to create faces and voices identified with these people. It's very well-written.
The story is structured like a feature-length movie: a somewhat slow start (compared to what is coming up), introduction of key characters, life becoming eventful for our protagonist, depiction of the "bad guy" element, a crisis, an elaborate setting things straight sequence, and an aftermath to keep us updated on what's been happening since.
*(possible spoiler)* I don't feel I am giving anything away here by revealing an important event here. About halfway through the story, Lane is fired by Ganiff, and the entire last third of the story depicts an unbelievably intricate plot to stick it to this horrible person who will walk over anyone at any time to get what he wants.
This would make a great movie. We see the result of determination and integrity, many sideline events and the humor also runs the gamut, from high-brow "Frasier" type humor on down to crude, dirty toilet humor.
This Linda Lane is a genius, and I have to say, author Maura Stone is possibly one as well. Very good story teller, and the revenge sequence is simply unbelievable.
Again, this is a very good, dramatic and funny story, well worth the time it takes to read it.

FiveStar FLEECING Maura Stone Books Reviews
I would enjoy this book so much more if only dashes weren't used in place of hyphens. The dashes are distracting and confusing. I want to love this book, and I hope that future editions will be better edited.
It takes alot for me to get into a book and I was surprise when I couldn't put the book down. It was well writted in a down to earth prespective. You could see yourself with the characters, could defiantly relate to them. I've already recommended this book to others hoping they will enjoy as much as i did. Thanks to Maura Stone for a wonderful job and I'm looking forward to be reading some more books from her in the future.
Ugh. I just finished and I'm still not sure if I like it or hate it. Stone is funny. There are some.... some.... parts that had me laughing out loud. There are some that she tried to be funny, but came out hokey... bordering stupid.
Some stuff seemed to be rushed through, or skipped altogether, while other parts were so drawn out I wanted to skip ahead.
The story was long. Very... very long. Like a train wreck, I wanted to look, but I also wanted to get to where I was going.
I wanted to enjoy it more, it has good potential... this just wasn't the kind of story that needed to be sooooo freaking long.
And no, I don't have a fear of long novels. As long as there is something to keep my attention and not drag out...
Awesome book and very quick read. Look forward to reading more books by this author. Highly recommend it.
Maura Stone's Five Star Fleecing is a Five Star Book. I found a laugh on every page and Her character developement is engrossing.Linda Lane is the Resident Manager of a New York City 5 Star Hotel. Her Exploits and the compromising situations she finds herself in are hilarious, due to an incompetant Boss and a Staff of Nitwit and self absorbed employees.
This book is a wonderful, witty, and fast paced adult comedy that will have you laughing out loud. I highly recommend it and can't wait till Maura Stone's next novel!!!
This author is new to me. Having never heard or read her books before coupled with the fact that it was a free book I had my doubts about the quality of her writing. She certainly proved me wrong. Good read.
My first novel in quite some time. The first third of this novel enticed me with sharp wit and wonderfully developed characters. Then, I became personally involved when Linda Lane became a victim of corporate criminals. I wanted justice and could not set the book down until it was delivered. For me, Five-Star Fleecing is a look at corporate greed wrapped in a brilliant novel with a refreshingly hilarious tone.
