Pretty good book, just about like the movie just a little difference here and there. but still a good read. I would stop with this book because the second one is confusing waiting games without the third one which is way to overly priced!

I haven't even seen a copy of this book in 25 years... But I can't believe how much of it I remember. This is a truly magical book, capturing the awkward transition each girl goes through on her way to becoming a woman. Most of all, the characters in this story are so finely drawn, so crisp and believable, it's a must read for old and young alike!
I prefer the movie that brought this story to life. Books usually provide more character insight than their movie counterpart, but this one loses because of the important role of music which the movie brings to life.
OMG! I remember reading this book back in 1982? In high school! And fell in love with it which made me fall in love with reading!! I never knew there was a sequel and a 3rd book to the story! It's a quick fun read cute love story I recommend for ages 12 & up...
